Easter Fun!

What a wonderful Easter weekend! Friday Elliot, the boys, and I headed down to Troutman to visit my dad, and so Elliot could go hunt for a turkey. (no luck there) However, we had a great visit with dad. We dyed Easter eggs, had a small egg hunt, and ate, ate and ate some more. Wes had a great time on the 4-wheeler (or-eear, as he calls it) . We traveled back Saturday evening and had a great day of worship as we celebrate the FACT that our Savior is risen! The tomb is empty, and He has gone to prepare a place for his children, those who have received the gift of salvation and have accepted Christ as Savior. (That's me! :) ) So, after an awesome morning of worship and teaching, we headed to the Stoltzfus' home for a delicious dinner with friends! The Shelton's, the Stricklers, the Stoltzfus' and of couse the Aiken's (never gonna miss a good eat), sat around a beautifully prepared table and fellowshipped! Then, as if it couldn't get any better, it did! What a georgeous Easter Sunday the Lord blessed us with! Everything was so PERFECT! So, we took the kids outside, sat in the grass and played, shared coffee and dessert and just took in the SONshine! Elliot decided to pretend he was Mr. Dare Devil! Pics will tell! After the children were so tired they began to walk with their heads layed over on the toys, we decided it was time to go so they could get naps! It was such a blessed day! I pray we never forget that the true meaning of Easter is not chocolate bunnies and colored eggs, but the HOPE that was brought to those who recieve it by a God who loved us too much to leave us in our sin state, so he sent a sacrifice, of his OWN son, to take on our sin so that we could live an abundant life on earth, and spend eternity with him! Is that what Easter means to you? Have you recieved the gift? I hope so! Love to all and Happy Easter!

Hanging out with Papaw Mike.

Me Time and Family Time

What a great weekend! I was able to go out with some friends while Elliot hung out with the boys. Isn't it amazing what a few hours strolling thur Target, Ross and Marshalls with a Starbucks in hand can do for a weary soul. It was such a refreshing retreat from the regular routine. It was so nice though to get back to smelling spit up all over, tripping over matchbox cars, and cleaning out sawdust filled pockets. Today was just as wonderful. Worship was sweet, the message was challenging, and the fellowship as good as ever. After lunch and naps, we decided to head to Sycamore Flats for some family time. Fishing, rock throwing, and strolling was enjoyed by all. I snapped many pics of our afternoon together. I enjoy days like these, filled with the little moments that make the biggest memories.

Throwing football with daddy.
I made chocolate oatmeal cookies for our time at the river. (Papa Dewey and Gramma Kate....they were YUMMY! )Me and Baby Saw!This is what Wes does when I tell him to praise the Lord.

A little playtime b/w bath and bed.

Extra Extra! Read all about it!

History was made today!

Saturday, March 28th, 2009, Wesley Crawford Aiken pooped in the potty for the first time! His mommy and daddy are so proud of him!

(editor's note: these pics were not actually taken during the aforementioned event, however, the scene was very similar)

From the mouth of babes...

So, Thursday I was having a pity party concerning all the "unknowns" in our life right now. Where will Elliot's next job be? Where will we live in the fall? How will we work out childcare? Yada Yada Yada... As Elliot sat across the room and we chatted, and Wes played in the floor, I randomly said to Wesley, "Wes, what shall we do buddy?" (concerning decisions for the future)...Well, he muttered someting and I said, "what did you say?" He looked up at me and said, "obey"....That was his answer to my question of, "what shall we do?" So, there I had my answer for all of my wonderings at my pity party. Just rest in the Lord, knowing he has a perfect plan. Be still, don't worry, pray and most of all......just obey! (who knew my two year old held the answers to some of my greatest questions! :)

Air mattress weekend

Oh what a weekend! It has been a crazy weekend, but has ended up being just wonderful. We had Elliot's brother with us Friday night and he slept on the air mattress in the living room. Sawyer has screamed all night for 3 nights now, so most of the weekend has been spend laying on the air mattress (that i have failed to put away) and try to rest. Last night we ordered pizza and had a picnic on the air mattress, ( I tried to explain to Wes that this was a treat, and not our "normal" place to eat.) Today we went to church, Fuji for lunch, and have just been having some fun family time this afternoon! When Wes got up from his nap today he ran in the living room, looked at the mattress and said, "pizza mommy!" So cute. Then I caught a few shots of my three favorite guys just hanging out!

He's just too cute!

My missions' pastor and his wife got Sawyer a very sweet shirt, custom embroidered, by their daughter-in-law Erin. (check her stuff out at erinsexpressions.com) I have gotten great gifts from her for friends getting ready to have babies! Sawyer looked so cute in his shirt, I had to post some pics!

Movin' on up!

Well, Sawyer went for his 4 month check up on Friday, and Wesley had his two year check up. All went well, and everyone is good! Sawyer was a whopping 14.2 lbs and Wes was 27lbs. My boys are getting big! Sawyer had to get some shots...still has the camo bandaids to show for it. Well, we took the plunge and started rice cereal this morning....i took so pics to match the ones i had taken of Wes when he first had cereal! Enjoy.

The thumb is still pretty good mom!

Just give me the spoon, I think I can do it myself!
